Every hospital IT team knows the key to improving patient outcomes is to streamline, simplify and speed access to critical data.  Unfortunately, many hospitals and medical centers are dependent on aging infrastructures, bound to legacy systems, and find themselves battling slowed clinical workflows and unplanned downtime, which can compromise patient care and put the institution at risk.

Like many healthcare organizations JFK Medical Center found itself spending vast amounts of time and money supporting its aging infrastructure.

Looking for a way to increase stability, reliability and achieve a higher level of performance, JFK teamed with NetApp to quickly modernize its infrastructure with new storage infrastructure that includes all-flash array systems.  As a result, JFK can now quickly move, manage, and protect all records for its primary hospital, rehabilitation center, neuroscience centers of excellence, and satellite emergency room, as well as numerous physician practices, several long-term care facilities, and remote radiology offices.

With fast, reliable access and insight into a patient’s complete health record, caregivers can now scan and upload additional documentation, results, permissions for treatment, and other key treatment and medical record information, with confidence that the record is legal, fully redundant, and automatically backed up.

With a new infrastructure in place, JFK is also freed to focus to a strategic next-generation data center initiative that aims to allow caregivers access to secure patient records at any time, in any location, on any mobile device.

In building a strong partnership with a trusted provider, JFK is well positioned to continue its data-driven journey, which may include migration to the cloud…and beyond.
