Technology refresh cycles are accelerating every day, and what was considered a breakthrough yesterday will quickly be outpaced. Nowhere is that trend more evident than in healthcare, where new capabilities are constantly improving patient care and clinician workflows and perpetual innovation is no longer optional.
The previous installment in our series on selecting the best occupational health software explored how to evaluate a new solution for clinical workflow efficiency. In part three, we’re covering how to identify a solution that is best-in-class today and will continue to advance.
The occupational health solution you choose needs, at a minimum, the capabilities to support your organization’s current care and compliance. But if that solution isn’t able to scale or modernize as technology continues to evolve, you may end up undertaking repeated another technology refreshes to keep up—or risk falling behind entirely.
As you evaluate new technology solutions for occupational health, doing the homework to ensure you have the necessary capabilities for today and a technology partner with a proven commitment to innovation for tomorrow will not only increase the efficacy of the software, but extend its lifespan.
Look for friction-reducing features and evidence of continual innovation:
- Development velocity and a history to prove it
- AI and automation capabilities such as scribing and workflow optimization
- Documented innovation roadmap
- Cloud-native technology
- Consistent platform modernization
- Intuitive user interface with integrated updates
- Documented system reliability and uptime (99.9%+ SLA)
Key Questions to Ask
To help build a greater understanding of the benefits of a particular the OEHR you’re vetting, be sure to ask the vendor following three key questions when meeting with a vendor and evaluating a solution:
- What are the most recent technology innovations you’ve made in your occupational health platform?
- What are your occupational health AI capabilities?
- What is your service-level agreement (SLA) for system uptime?
The next part of this series will review the data, security, and reporting capabilities that help organizations unlock the power of their data while maintaining compliance. Subscribe to our mailing list to receive part four directly to your inbox.
